About HPCMP CREATE Genesis

What is CREATE Genesis?

‒Genesis is a suite of software products developed by the U.S. DoD High Performance  Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) through CREATE.

‒Genesis targets EDUCATION, research, and evaluation use cases specifically.

‒Genesis is NOT export controlled.

What are the products currently supported under CREATE Genesis?

-Genesis Capstone

Capstone is a software platform to create, modify and query geometry, mesh and attribution information needed to define a numerical representation (digital model) needed for physics-based simulation of complex engineering systems. Capstone applications include computation of complex flow fields around air-vehicles (fixed and rotary wing), ships and submarines; analyses and design of radio-frequency (RF) antennae systems; shock and damage modeling for ships and submarines; structural-acoustics and terrain modeling.

Capstone geometry capabilities include the ability to handle arbitrarily complex three-dimensional geometries using non-uniform-B-Splines (NURBS) curves and surfaces. It supports full non-manifold geometry representations. Capstone platform is agnostic to the details of geometry-system (CAD) due to the use of suitable abstractions for the needed geometric operations. It also has the ability to handle discrete (mesh-based) geometry representations. It supports bottom-up as well as top-down modeling of complex geometric systems using a feature-based workflow.

Capstone meshing capabilities include fully automated algorithms to generate unstructured anisotropic curvilinear meshes needed for a range of physics and discretization techniques. It generates meshes needed for complex flow field with multiple interacting boundary-layers. Capstone generated meshes are tightly associated with the underlying geometry model enabling geometry-based a-posteriori mesh adaptation.

Capstone attribution capabilities include attaching information to the model geometry in an associative manner where the attributes are automatically updated as the geometry is edited. Coupled with the tight-association of the meshes with the geometry, this provides for robust and automated transfer of analysis attribution information to the meshes needed by the solvers.

Capstone platform consists of an GUI-based application for traditional pre-processing workflows for engineering analyses. It also includes a powerful software development kit (SDK) with well-abstracted and compact application programming interfaces (API). The SDK provides a foundational capability enabling geometry-based engineering design and analyses. It also provides accurate runtime a-posteriori adaptation of meshes based on the reference geometry. The SDK APIs may be accessed using C++ and/or the Python programming language.

-Genesis CFD

Genesis CFD provides basic CFD analysis capabilities.  These include single mesh unstruc NS solver (core count constrained), motion (prescribed and 6-DOF), modal model based aeroelastic structures, and 0-D linear engine model for propulsion BC’s.  Genesis CFD is available as executable code only.
